Sam Kary

Sam Kary is a 6th grade Humanities and Learning Seminar teacher at Gateway; the 6th grade team leader; a member of the Faculty Affairs committee; and co-leader of technology at the middle school. Sam graduated from the University of Colorado with degrees in English and Spanish and The Ohio State University with a Masters in English. He taught in Richmond, California for three years as a Teach For America corps member, where he also taught 6th grade. When not working, Sam is passionate about skiing, backpacking, bike touring, cycling, running, and swimming, and spends much of his free time training for triathlons. He is originally from the Bay Area and currently lives in Oakland.
