Event FAQ
Everything you need to know to make the most of Gateway's Got Talent!
Isn't The Great Gateway Gathering usually a party?
Usually! Until we can safely party together in person, we're shaking things up a bit this year by putting on an all-virtual, all-Gateway talent show! Our hope is that we can come together virtually to celebrate the incredible talent of our community while raising much-needed funds for students and teachers in these truly challenging times. We can't wait to switch back to the in-person event format next year.
Who is eligible to enter the competition?
If you're a member of the Gateway community, we'd love to have you! Staff, students, families, friends and supporters are all welcome to submit a video showcasing their special talents, a performance, etc. You can submit as an individual, or get the whole household in on the act! We ask only that you:
1) Adhere to all public health and safety rules (please observe good social distancing practices, etc.)
2) Keep your content within the bounds of reasonably good taste and adhere to the code of conduct outlined on our main event page.
What are the technical specifications for video entries?
Pretty broad! We ask that you limit your video to 2 minutes in length (this is maybe not the time to showcase that you know every verse of Don McLean's "American Pie"). Any video that is Youtube compatible can be accepted, the higher quality, the better.

How will I watch the show on March 13?
The best way to watch will be through our Greater Giving site, where you can view the livestream, vote for your favorites, and check out our auctions and other great fundraising activities all from the same location! Check the Gateway website or your email for the link once it becomes available.
Note that you will need to provide a credit or debit card number to log on, but it is not required to view the livestream. The number will be stored safely for when and if you decide to vote or participate in other fundraising.
If I submit an act, do I need to perform live during the show?
Nope! All we need is your video and the info you provide when you submit. You're free to stay home, relax and enjoy the show in its entirety. And yes, you CAN vote for yourself! :)
How do I safely host or participate in a Count-Me-In Party?
Count-Me-In Parties are traditionally an activity led by a Gateway family in their own home or out on the town, but given the public health situation we are asking this year that all Count-Me-In donations be for events that can be held virtually or can be held in a safe, socially distant way. This could look like leading a wine tasting over Zoom, hosting a virtual family game night, or meeting up for socially-distanced bird watching in the woods -- the only limit is your imagination.
