Dear Gateway Families,
I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new Executive Director of Gateway Public Schools, and to join this vibrant and dedicated community that has been making a profound difference in the lives of San Francisco’s young people for over 25 years.
As I step into this role, I want to express my deep commitment to continuing Gateway’s long track record of success, while also investigating and eliminating those educational inequities we continue to confront. The work of building truly equitable, inclusive, anti-racist schools is work that is never done, and yet Gateway’s students and school culture are proof that a team of talented, committed educators, in partnership with families, can make enormous strides forward. I am excited to get started on the next chapter of this important effort with all of you.
In addition to prioritizing student success, I am equally committed to fostering a positive and supportive workplace culture for our staff. I recognize that our teachers and staff members are the heart of our schools, and their dedication and passion are essential to our success. I am committed to providing them with the support, resources, and professional development opportunities they need to thrive in their roles and make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students.
There is so much to be proud of at Gateway Middle and Gateway High. These schools have a long-standing tradition of academic excellence, community engagement, and innovation, and I am honored to have the opportunity to grow this legacy. I am eager to collaborate with all members of our school community – including students, families, staff, and community members – to build upon our strengths, address our challenges, and ensure that our schools remain places where every student can reach their full potential.
As we embark on this journey together, I am filled with excitement and optimism for the future of Gateway. I am confident that by working together with tenacity, enthusiasm, and a shared commitment to excellence, we can achieve great things for our students and our community.
