Why a telethon? I thought the Great Gateway Gathering was a party.
Traditionally, it is! Given that the City of San Francisco and department of public health have recommended that all nonessential gatherings of adults should be cancelled for the next several weeks, we have decided to reformat the event rather than cancel it altogether. For one, our students and teachers rely on this event to generate nearly $70,000 each year for the mission-critical supports and programs that allow us to serve every unique learner in our charge; for another, we just can’t bear to see a great party canceled!
We hope the new format will be a fun way to virtually build community while supporting our kids and teachers, and look forward to returning to our usual, in-person party next year!
Do I need any special technology to tune in?
Nope! We are broadcasting via YouTube LIVE -- all you need to do is open the event link using any desktop or mobile web browser and enjoy! If you have a YouTube account, you can chat live with us, but that isn't mandatory. If you can watch a funny cat video, you can watch our telethon!
Do I need to be watching/online in order to win the raffle or wine?
Nope! We will be announcing winners on the air but will follow up with winners in the following week. You can purchase your raffle tickets starting now!
What if I already bought tickets?
If you have purchased a ticket for the Great Gateway Gathering party, we hope you will consider it a donation to Gateway so that it can be counted toward our fundraising goal. If you would prefer a refund, please contact Marianne Fives at mfives@gatewaypublicschools.org.
