Families and community members joined Gateway High School on Thursday, March 17, for Gateway's Social Movements Exhibition. Students presented their research on a 20th century social movement: The India Freedom Struggle, South Africa's Anti-Apartheid Movement, and the current Zapatista movement in Chiapas, Mexico.
Students compared these movements to current Bay Area social movements, shared their personal reflections on an injustice they would want to fix, how they would plan to do it, and what personal qualities they would need to succeed against difficult odds.
