Ambassador FAQ
Ambassador Board FAQ
What is the purpose of the Gateway Ambassadors Board?
The Ambassadors Board serves as a bridge connecting alumni from across Gateway’s 25 year history to their high school alma mater, and connecting Gateway to the larger Bay Area. Ultimately, we want all alumni to continue being supported and nourished by the Gateway community long after they graduate, and to be able to give back to students and teachers in ways they find meaningful.
What is the time commitment?
Quarterly meetings are an hour long, either in person at GHS or via Zoom. You may also want to work on a special project or subcommittee, which will entail additional meetings or time. In general, being a part of the ambassadors is meant to be flexible and a low lift for participants, but we do ask that you adhere to any volunteer commitments you make!
Do I need to donate a lot of money?
No! While we ask ambassadors to support the board’s fundraising efforts by helping to promote events, inviting friends and family to get involved with Gateway and helping us spread the word on social media, there is no financial expectation with joining the ambassadors. If you are in a position to do any charitable giving, we ask that you make Gateway a priority, and we always encourage you to check and see if your employer will match any donations you make – many workplaces will!
What kind of people are you looking for?
Alumni who really love Gateway and young professionals excited to support public education! We’re looking for a diverse group of alumni from all graduating classes and advocates of all stripes who have great ideas, are motivated to build community and start new Gateway traditions, and are excited to give back to the school community.
How do I get involved?
Attend a meeting! You can also contact Alexandria Wyllie, Community Engagement Manager, with more questions about the ambassadors at any time.
