Spanish Teacher

"Cristian Cobos, is a passionate and dedicated educator with experience teaching Spanish to students from 5th through 12th grade. His teaching journey includes instruction in introductory Spanish courses and Advanced Placement (AP) Spanish Language and Culture. Maestro Cobos brings a well-rounded perspective shaped by his work in both private and public coeducational schools, as well as his most recent position at an all-boys Catholic institution.

Maestro Cobos earned his undergraduate degrees from the University of California, Chico in 2017-18, where he completed a double major in Spanish and Latin American Studies, along with a minor in Global Development. His academic foundation deepened his appreciation for language, culture, and the global forces that shape communities-a perspective he brings into every classroom.

Originally from Guadalajara, Jalisco, México, Maestro Cobos immigrated to the United States in 2001 with his parents, older sister, and younger brother. His family and close circle of friends remain central to his life, deeply influencing his personal values and approach to education.

Outside the classroom, Maestro Cobos leads an active and fulfilling life. He enjoys kayaking on Richardson Bay, walking his dogs along the Sausalito waterfront, and running in the beautiful Bay Area landscapes. As a recent beginner cyclist, he bikes across the Golden Gate Bridge as part of his daily commute to school. His enthusiasm for physical activity extends to coaching, where he shares his love of athletics through track and field.

Maestro Cobos is thrilled to join the Gateway Middle School community, where he looks forward to developing a vibrant Spanish program for both heritage Spanish speakers and students new to the language. His mission is to inspire cultural pride, linguistic confidence, and a lifelong appreciation for the Spanish-speaking world."
